Aquarius Casino Resort Takes a “Shore” Bet on Keeping The Environment Clean

Laughlin, Nev. – February 18, 2010 – “Team Aquarius” from Aquarius Casino Resort helped clean up a mile of shoreline along the Colorado River banks as part of the second Bullhead City/Laughlin Colorado River Cleanup on Saturday, February 13. Consisting of Aquarius Casino Resort employees and their family members, the team started at the base of Davis Camp, known as Sportsman’s Park, and continued cleaning towards the Laughlin bridge.

“Last year’s cleanup collected more than 250 bags of trash and recyclables and we wanted to be a part of that continued success,” said Aquarius Casino Resort Director of Human Resources Maria Flores. “Even though the amount of discarded trash was more than we would have liked, we’re proud of the team members and their families for being energized and enthusiastic.”

“I appreciate all the volunteers who gave of their time to help improve our environment in the Laughlin recreational area,” said Aquarius Casino Resort General Manager Paul Hobson. “This is a beautiful destination and it’s up to us to keep it that way for us as well as our visitors.”

The event is sponsored locally by News West Publishing, Bureau of Land Management, Bullhead City and the Fire Department, the Laughlin Tourism Commission, Desert River Kayak, Lake Mohave Power Squadron and the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Colorado River, and is one in a series of river cleanups under the conservation organization American Rivers.

“Community involvement is crucial,” said Mohave Valley Daily News City Editor Bill McMillen. “We all enjoy everything the Colorado River has to offer. Most of Laughlin and Bullhead City wouldn't be here if it weren't for the river. Since we all enjoy the river's benefits, we all should share in the responsibility to maintain it, not only for us but for generations to come.”
