FIGHTS BACK AGAINST CHILD OBESITY

Recreational Center Celebrates 6th Anniversary and Takes Aim at Nation’s Obesity Issue

LAS VEGAS – March 5, 2010 – Sky Zone celebrates its 6th anniversary in 2010 and with the venue’s modern twist on athletics and fitness, is sweeping the country with an alternative method for both adults and children with a means for getting fit and having fun.

A partner of the American Heart Association, training haven to professional athletes and suitable for all ages, athletic capabilities and a proven burn of up to 1,000 calories per hour – Sky Zone Recreational Center has launched itself as the premier fitness destination while instilling fun in everyone that visits. Since its launch in 2004, the venue has franchised locations in Las Vegas, NV; St. Louis, MO and Sacramento, CA. Sky Zone also has additional franchises that will be opening in Columbus, OH; Boston, MA and Houston, TX.

Sky Zone Recreational Center (formerly known as Sky Mania Fun Center) has created and built the world’s first three-dimensional walled playing fields with its United States-patented product of interlocking trampolines. The recreational center offers various programs aimed at fun and fitness including SkyRobics fitness classes for adults and children, corporate team building events, high performance cross-training for athletes in high school and collegiate level to professional athletes, intramural sports for colleges, birthday parties, 3-D dodgeball tournaments and more.

“There’s nothing else in the world quite like Sky Zone,” says owner Rick Platt. “Sky Zone is the next dimension in sports, fun and fitness and offers fun physical activities, games and entertainment for people of all ages, size and abilities.”

To prove Sky Zone’s success rate with modern fitness, the center completed the first SkyRobics 4Kids research project in conjunction with Parkway Southwest Middle School in Missouri in March 2008. Sky Zone, with approval from the Institutional Review Board backed by the Brooks College of Health in Jacksonville, FL, conducted a six-week study with 30 middle school students. Students visited Sky Zone twice a week after school for a 60-minute SkyRobics workout. Results gathered from the study included an increase in weight (from muscle mass gain) and leg strength with a decrease in body fat percentage.

With its 6th anniversary, Sky Zone is continuing its effort in fitness awareness by forming partnerships with local school communities and creating out-of-the-box health initiatives for children including 3-D dodgeball and SkyRobics 4Kids. The company is currently franchising throughout the U.S. and continues its efforts of nationwide fitness awareness.
